A half-day online workshop with Dr Karen Baikie
ONLINE via Zoom: Sat 23 Oct, 9:30 am—12:30 pm
The therapeutic relationship, or ‘rapport’, is the key ingredient in successful therapy. When clients feel understood and connected, the rest of therapy generally flows better. Sometimes there is an instant connection with a client, but at other times it can be hard to develop rapport, especially when working in an online environment. Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology offers two key approaches that help deepen connection with clients. In this online mini-workshop, participants will learn how use mindfulness and how to bring in the body to establish a more solid connection with clients, for both in-person and online sessions. This experiential workshop will give participants the opportunity to work in small breakout groups to practice the skills and get a taster of the Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology method.
In this workshop, you will:
- Be introduced to key concepts in Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy, in a safe, supportive environment.
- Explore the use of mindfulness as a tool for use in therapeutic settings.
- Learn and practice how to bring in the body in both personal and therapeutic relationships.
The workshop will consist of brief talks, discussion, and experiential exercises in break-out groups, with an emphasis on skills that can be readily applied directly following the workshop. This workshop offers the opportunity to get a taste of Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy.
It is suitable for those working therapeutically with clients and those wishing to deepen their own self understanding. It will be of value to psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists, and other practitioners who are interested in learning more about Hakomi or are considering enrolling in the Hakomi Professional Training.
